After seven years at the helm of Cornell University, President Martha E. Pollack has announced her departure from the prestigious Ivy League institution.
Provost Michael I. Kotlikoff is set to assume the role of interim president starting July 1. The Cornell Board of Trustees will bestow upon Pollack the title of president emerita.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has approved Washington’s initial proposal for the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program. The NTIA has also approved the District of Columbia’s and Deleware’s initial proposals.
According to a news release from NTIA, the BEAD program is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s “Internet for All” initiative.
The approval means Washington can request access to its allocation of BEAD funding — over $1.2 billion.

Hui Qin, 56, a Chinese film magnate with homes in Manhattan and Long Island, appeared in federal court in Central Islip, New York, and was sentenced to seven months in prison — matching the time he had served in pretrial detention since his arrest in October.
