DETROIT – Picking out the craziest moment of the 2024 NFL draft is easy. Thank you, Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons selected Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall selection in the draft.
The Atlanta Falcons, who paid Kirk Cousins a four-year, $180 million contract last month, just picked Michael Penix Jr.
The Atlanta Falcons, who trusted Cousins coming off an Achilles injury, are now trusting Penix after he spent his first four seasons at Indiana – and was unable to complete any of those seasons because of injuries.
It’s fair to say this was a huge surprise.

In the vast pantheon of history, black people have been both victims and oppressors. Yet history has been so politicized that we hear endlessly about the former and almost never about the latter. Rhetoric has eclipsed facts. It is a fact, for example, that Africans participated in the transatlantic slave trade. History is now frequently used as a cudgel to hammer white people into submission.

The vaccine is custom-built for individuals using the specific genetic makeup of their tumour – telling the body to hunt down cancer cells and prevent the deadly disease from coming back.
The couple, who tied the knot five years ago in a surprise wedding ceremony and now live in Glasgow, will find out the gender in a few weeks and decide on names shortly after.
The New England Patriots and longtime head coach Bill Belichick parted ways this off-season, beginning a new era for the team. That new era now includes former North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.
There were plenty of rumors that the Patriots wanted to trade down in the first round, but ultimately, they kept the #3 overall pick and selected Maye. Belichick, who was not able to find a new head coaching gig in the NFL, joined Pat McAfee on ESPN to break down the NFL Draft.
That meant fans got to hear exactly what Belichick thought about his former team’s first-round pick.
Former federal prosecutor Jeffrey Toobin scoffed at the idea that jury nullification could play a role in Donald Trump’s New York criminal, thus thwarting a conviction of the former president.
Jury nullification occurs when a jury returns a verdict of not guilty no matter what the evidence indicates.
On Thursday, jurors in Trump’s hush money trial heard testimony from former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who described how he participated in “catch and kill” arrangements to suppress negative stories about some politicians, including Trump.
Deion Sanders captivated the college football world during the 2023 season, especially as his Colorado Buffaloes started the season with three impressive wins.
Losses to Oregon and USC though, sent their season into a tailspin. Colorado lost six straight games to end the season, including an embarrassing 56-14 loss to Washington State. Even still though, speculation about Sanders leaving Boulder for the NFL increased, especially with his sons set to age out of college football in the future.

A massive fire consumed the Oceanside Pier in San Diego, California on Thursday afternoon.
The fire began around 3 pm local time.
The building at the end of the pier is vacant. It used to be a Ruby’s Diner, but it shut down three years ago after strict Covid pandemic lockdowns destroyed California thanks to Democrats.
According to NBC 7 San Diego, the city of Oceanside last year spent $5.5 million upgrading the pipes and electrical systems on the pier.

The serene landscape of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, nestled in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, is currently gripped by a contentious debate over a proposed municipal regulation that has sent shockwaves through the community.
At the heart of the controversy lies an authoritarian measure: the mandatory requirement for residents to present a QR code upon exiting the municipality.

The US-supplied Army Tactical Missile Systems, known as ATACMS, will allow Ukrainian forces to target Russia’s Crimean Peninsula “more effectively,” the New York Times has reported, citing senior Pentagon officials.
Washington secretly sent Kiev an unspecified number of longer-range ATACMS missiles last month, US officials confirmed earlier this week, after several outlets claimed that Kiev has already begun using the new weapon against Russian targets far behind the frontlines.

Mahler’s Second Symphony was an attempt to confront the shock of mortality, to bring both composer and audience face to face with their own triviality and inconsequence. At the same time, the fearful image of the cavernous void presented Mahler with an opportunity, not to find, but to create meaning amid an otherwise purposeless existence.
Death haunted Gustav Mahler. Born in 1860, Mahler was one of fourteen children. Nine of his siblings died in infancy.

The Federal Trade Commission (FCC) on Thursday voted to restore “net neutrality” rules that prevent broadband internet providers such as Comcast and Verizon from favoring some sites and apps over others.
The move effectively reinstates a net neutrality order the commission first issued in 2015 during the Obama administration. In 2017, under then-President Donald Trump, the FCC repealed those rules.
The measure passed Thursday on a 3-2 vote split along party lines, with Democratic commissioners in favor and Republicans opposed.

Why aren’t more people talking about this? A white horse that was covered in red blood up to the bridle just went on a rampage through the streets of one of the most important cities on the entire planet, and almost everyone is ignoring it. It was accompanied by a black horse that had also gotten loose. The two horses actually rampaged through the streets of London for six miles before authorities were able to catch them.
Almost two years after a similar rule was rejected by the Supreme Court, the Biden administration on Thursday released another final rule for regulating America’s power plants.
Under the rule, coal-fired power plants and most new natural gas-fired power plants would have to eliminate 90% of their carbon emissions by 2039 or close down in 2040.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s new rule would raise electricity costs for Americans, kill manufacturing jobs, and disproportionately affect the poor, farmers, and small business.
