New York City has a serious and growing problem with empty office space. Between rising crime, high taxes, and the crazy rules of the pandemic a few years ago, people have fled the city in huge numbers.
Now the city is home to a record number of empty office buildings. The lack of revenue from these properties has got to be hurting the city’s bottom line and the policies of the current mayor are not helping.

A federal judge has blocked a challenge to a rule requiring proof of citizenship for Georgia residents registering to vote, JustTheNews reported. U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross ruled Thursday to dismiss the challenge brought by several groups.
The rule is a commonsense measure to keep illegal aliens from casting ballots in Georgia elections. “Ensuring that only U.S. citizens vote in our elections is critically important to secure and accurate elections,” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said in a statement.
The city of Green Bay has allegedly been violating state law by allowing new voters to cast ballots the same day they register, JustTheNews reported. The Public Interest Fund, a conservative legal group, lodged a formal complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Commission Monday.
The complaint was filed against Green Bay City Clerk Celestine Jeffreys, who is required by law to verify new registrations prior to allowing someone to vote.

Maine’s Supreme Court reversed a lower court order on Thursday that granted a new trial to a Portland man convicted of manslaughter for shooting his sister’s boyfriend during an argument in 2019.
A judge granted a new trial to Mark Cardilli last year after determining that he received inadequate counsel from his attorneys, and he was released on bail.
That decision was appealed to the Supreme Court, and its reversal may mean that Cardilli has to go back to jail and finish his original sentence of seven and a half years.
Saw an item on Fox News this morning about someone on the terror watchlist having been caught. You might be tempted to think that this is an example of the government doing its job and protecting American citizens. If you thought that you’d be dead wrong. Turns out, this particular individual on the terror watchlist […]

Whatever happened to simple compliments? Like, your “you look lovely today” and “you’ve done a great job” or “you look like a dude who can lift two oxen.” No, everyone has to ruin it by not thinking what they say and being too elaborate for their own good.
Incidentally, women of Reddit have been recently sharing all the dumb stuff men complimented without realizing it’s not a compliment, but rather an offense.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis keeps taking hits on the legal front as she pursues her case against former President Donald Trump.
According to Breitbart, the latest drama surrounding the DA involves the Justice Department announcing they’ve found “inconsistencies” in her use of federal grant funds, possibly opening a whole new can of legal worms for Willis to deal with.
The findings also confirm previous claims by a whistleblower who came forward with the information earlier this year.
Not surprisingly, that particular whistleblower had been fired by Willis.
While warning Democrats that they can only “lie for so long,” the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump stated on the right-leaning network Newsmax that her father has been victimized more than “anyone in history.”
“There’s never been anyone in history I don’t think that has taken as much incoming as Donald Trump,” Lara Trump told host Carl Higbie, before stating that the GOP frontrunner, who currently faces four criminal trials, had been ‘vindicated,’” as the Daily Mail reported.
It is a bit surreal to think that while we can’t physically experience history because we’re born at a particular place and time, the power of technology has empowered us to see it, understand it and make conclusions from it.
Historical Capsule is a dedicated community only that pretty much does that—empowers people to do just that. Join us as we take a journey through time in the listicle of iconic historical photos below.

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding yet challenging things that you can do in life. But with so many different parenting styles and unique family situations, it can be hard to know how to react when a friend’s kid starts to misbehave around you, at your own home. It can be a very awkward situation! At some point, though, you might have to speak up and talk to them about the disruptive and damaging behavior, as well as about establishing some common sense boundaries.
Revenge is a long list of things, best served cold, cathartic, taxing and perhaps all-consuming, but sometimes it’s just plain, old funny. After all, it’s not all “The Count of Monte Cristo,” sometimes it’s just an annoying person getting their due.
A woman shared her tale of petty revenge, when a new tenant tried to lowball her to keep the furnishings she installed. Instead of a great deal, she ended up with a barren apartment. We reached out to the woman in the story via private message and will update the article when she gets back to us.
Earlier this week, an editor for National Public Radio went on the record exposing the extreme political bias of the taxpayer funded network.
He claimed that after the 2016 election, that the outlet went full-activist and did whatever they could to damage Trump and his presidency. They obviously pushed the Russia collusion hoax and refused to report on the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Someone must have shared the story with Trump, because he is now calling for an end to public funding for National Public Radio.

A recent guest on the Dr. Phil show was there to argue in favor of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and things did not go well for her.
Dr. Phil pointed out that what she is arguing for is equality of outcomes, which just doesn’t work. He correctly pointed out to her that what she is talking about is essentially Marxism.
Dr. Phil nailed this. Equality of outcomes is communism and it has failed everywhere it has been tried throughout history.

Former President Donald Trump has won another small legal battle ahead of his bid to take back the White House. The 2024 GOP frontrunner will not be deposed on Monday in a lawsuit brought by Andy Litinsky and Wes Moss, co-founders of Trump Media & Technology Group Corp., according to Bloomberg.
The deposition has been postponed due to the upcoming retirement of Delaware Judge Sam Glasscock III, who will be replaced. Litinsky and Moss, both former contestants on Trump’s TV show “The Apprentice,” alleged in their lawsuit that Trump attempted to dilute their 8.6% stake in the company.

Thank you, Soto. You served your purpose, but your time has come. You are 70, and, yes, that is twelve years younger than feeble Joe, but we need your robe for a younger dudette. BTW, we need this to happen soon so we can replace you before Joe loses to Trump on November 5.
This will not be a repeat of Merrick Garland (thank God we kept that evil man off the Court), as the Democrats have the White House and Senate. The only monkey wrench will be when Sotomayor says, no way. I think I still look good in black.
But Galitzine cautions there’s still a sense of “foreboding” to the coupling.

A Republican lawmaker has thrown a procedural wrench into Congress. On Friday, the House voted 273-147 to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, a U.S. surveillance program crucial to national security. The program, which enables the government to collect electronic communications of non-Americans located outside the country without a warrant, now advances to the Senate for consideration. The renewal extends the program through 2026.
The vote was largely bipartisan, with 126 Republicans and 147 Democrats supporting the legislation.
Ippei Mizuhara, Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, has been released by authorities after appearing in U.S. District court on Friday afternoon.
The interpreter was released on a $25,000 “signature bond,” which means that if he was to violate any of the conditions of his bond, he would have to pay the court that $25k. He entered the courtroom in shackles (no handcuffs) and later had the shackles removed at his attorney’s request. The hearing itself lasted roughly 10 minutes, and then Mizuhara left the courtroom.

On Friday the U.S. House of Representatives passed a measure allowing for warrantless surveillance of citizens. The provision was part of their reauthorization of Section 702 of FISA, or the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which allows for ample latitude in monitoring foreign communications to track terroristic threats. However, such reconnaissance catches many U.S. citizens’ interactions …

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is in a three-way tie atop The Masters 2024 Leader Board with a score of 6-under par. Scheffler is joined by LIV Tour defector, and 2020 U.S. Open champion, Bryson DeChambeau and 6-time PGA TOUR winner, but not a major champion, Max Homa. This is golf-gambling Twitter’s worst nightmare. Since Scheffler had pre-tournament odds of +450 to win, I didn’t see people touting the 2022 Masters champion.
But, here we are. Non-Scheffler bettors, myself included, are resigned to rooting for his wife to go into labor and force him to withdraw.
