Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R.) and former president Donald Trump are likely to clash on the tentative debt ceiling agreement House Republicans struck with the White House, turning the already contentious debt battle into one of the first live issues on which the two candidates will offer contrasting visions.
DeSantis and his allies say the deal, which was announced late Saturday, does little to address the nation’s debt crisis.
HARKERS ISLAND, N.C (AP) — A veteran North Carolina Democratic political consultant died over the weekend after he was ejected from the boat he was riding in near some of the state’s barrier islands, the National Park Service said on Tuesday.
Conen Morgan, 42, of Raleigh, whose consulting agency clients have included the campaigns of U.S. Reps. Alma Adams and Valerie Foushee, died Sunday, the park service said in a news release.
Morgan’s “hard work and determination made a real, positive difference for people of North Carolina,” Gov. Roy Cooper said in a tweet.
About 20 years ago I read a piece about the North Miami police department eliminating the swimming requirement for the police. With a working knowledge of geography and having visited Miami many times, I thought this was a bit odd and kind of a bad idea. After all, North Miami has hundreds of miles of canals, lakes and beaches. Predictably, the reason the requirement was being dropped was because “blacks are less likely than whites to know how to swim because of economic disparities between the groups…” Basically because not enough blacks were qualifying to become police.
The alleged attack on the Belgorod region is the latest in a string of intensifying attacks in recent weeks.
An 11-year-old boy called police for help to protect his mother and cops showed up and shot him in the chest.
Indianola, MS — In yet another alarming example of the perils associated with dialing 911 for help, an unarmed 11-year-old boy found himself in the midst of a tragically aggressive law enforcement response for doing what he was taught by the system to do. His courageous act to protect his mother during a domestic disturbance ended with a taxpayer-funded round in his torso.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — An 11-year-old Mississippi boy who called police to help his family and then was shot by an officer said the bullet that pierced his lung felt “like a big punch to the chest.”
“I actually thought I was about to lose my life,” Aderrien Murry told “Good Morning America” in an interview that aired Tuesday.
The shooting happened May 20 in Indianola, a town of about 9,300 residents in the rural Mississippi Delta, about 95 miles (153 kilometers) northwest of Jackson.
Aderrien’s mother, Nakala Murry, asked her son to call police about 4 a.m.

Some might claim that Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal is part of his “right-wing media machine,” but not when it comes to the news pages. The front page on May 25 included an article headlined “Target Is in Bull’s-Eye Of the Culture Wars.” Inside the paper, it’s “Culture Wars Snare Target.”
One of the most annoying tendencies of liberal journalists is defining the term “culture wars” as conservative resistance to the left-wing war on America’s Judeo-Christian heritage.

As Steve Sarkisian and his staff continue to prepare for next fall, the Longhorns are getting to work. Spring ball is a thing of the past, as is the spring semester.

As Ukraine edges closer to the bizarrely promised and promoted “Spring Offensive“, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has issued a terrifying proposition to any nation that joins Russia and Belarus. Like an Oprah Christmas Special: Nukes for everyone.
According to NBC News, Lukashenko told Russian state TV:
“It’s very simple. You have to join the union between Belarus and Russia, and that’s it: There will be nuclear weapons for everyone.”
“I think it’s possible,” Lukashenko added, saying that he was expressing his own view.

In this world, perception is reality.
And the perception that Joe Biden just gave off was not a good one.
Biden spent most of the week leading into Memorial Day weekend at Camp David, then he took off for Delaware.
Bad Impression
Now, vacations are nothing new for Biden, but this was amid the debt ceiling “crisis.”
I have maintained all along this was all political theater, and that a last second deal would be announced.
Biden more or less confirmed that by now allowing the so-called crisis to interfere with his plans.
Several Democrats were upset with Biden for doing this.

In May 2022, the country learned that it was Hillary Clinton’s campaign that was behind the entire Trump-Russia collusion hoax. We know this because her former campaign manager Robbie Mook said so under oath during the Sussman trial.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said last week that he would seek the repeal of the FIRST STEP Act, a major criminal justice reform bill signed into law by former President Donald Trump in 2018, if he is elected president.
DeSantis’ comments in an interview with The Daily Wire published last Friday seem like part of a campaign strategy to paint Trump—who often muses about executing drug dealers and jokes about police brutality—as soft on crime.
